Alumni Matters

UCSB Alumni Welcomes Newest Members

Graduating seniors were celebrated and welcomed into the UCSB Alumni family on June 16 during a reception at Mosher Alumni House. Information was shared on the many benefits offered through UCSB Alumni. Hundreds of students and families participated, enjoying the opportunity to be together before heading into the next phase of their lives. Alumni staff thanks our outgoing interns (pictured) for their dedication and hard work on behalf of alumni and the university.

UCSB Exceptional Alumni Women Honored

UC Santa Barbara Alumni honored Rep. Lois Capps ’90 and Fox Newscaster Harris Faulkner ’87 at its annual Exceptional Women Exceptional Gauchos event held in May. A panel discussion focused on women in politics and featured Capps and Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce Dudley ’75, M.A. ’81 and California State Board of Education member Niki Sandoval Ph.D. ’07 as moderator. The event was co-chaired by Jan Campbell ’74, chief philanthropic officer and senior vice president for the Santa Barbara Foundation and Julie Capritto ’81, senior vice president and chief operating officer for AGIA Affinity Services. In accepting her Lifetime Achievement award, Capps said, “UCSB nurtures strong women and supports their aspirations and dreams. We know the role that UCSB has played in our own lives and we are determined to do the same for the next generation.”
