The NCAA College Cup Returns to Soccer Heaven

UCSB is officially slated to host the NCAA Men’s College Cup National Championship Final Four in the men’s soccer 2018 and 2020 seasons. UCSB last hosted the tournament in 2010, where a record-breaking more than 10,000 fans cheered as Akron, Michigan, North Carolina and Louisville competed for the cup.

Gauchos are eager to bring the championship back to campus. “We are excited about the opportunity to host the NCAA College Cup at Harder Stadium,” said UCSB Director of Athletics John McCutcheon. “We look forward to engaging our community and to having a first-class event that participants and fans will remember.”

Baseball Welcomes New DBO

UCSB Baseball has a new director of Baseball Operations who has a prolific background as a player and coach in Oregon.

Dylan Jones played for Oregon State for two seasons accruing a 1-0 record, 2.01 ERA, and 1.69 batting average as a pitcher while as a batter he finished with a .284 career average, including a .329 average as a junior. The Beavers made the NCAA Tournament in both of his seasons in Corvallis. After graduating, he played professionally in Australia and helped the Perth Heat make it to the 2012 Australian Baseball League Championship.

Jones returned to Oregon State for the 2013 season as an undergraduate assistant coach. He worked alongside head coach Pat Casey to steer the Beavers to the 2013 College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. He also coached several West Coast League teams and at Linn-Benton Community College.

Jones replaces former DBO Casey Harms, who was promoted to assistant coach.
